WordPress vs Blogger Which is Good Blogging Platform 2019

WordPress

WordPress is a full Content Management System (CMS)– a platform designed to help you build online content. In practical terms, this means that you can use WordPress to create nearly any type of website.

WordPress began life as a blogging platform, however, and it’s still suited to that application. Like Blogger, WordPress is also free, although it won’t host your blog for you. You’ll need to choose a hosting plan and pick out a domain name, after which you can install and set up your WordPress site.

Blogger

As the name suggests, Blogger makes it easy to get up and running with a simple blog.

All you’ll need is to create a free profile, which requires a Google account. Then, you can build a new blog right away:

You can choose from a variety of themes to determine your blog’s appearance and layout, give it a title, and choose a URL (which will have blogspot.com added to the end, unless you pay for a custom domain). Then, you’ll get access to a simple dashboard:

1. Cost

When it comes to cost, Blogger is hard to beat — it really is a free service. If you want to register a domain name for your website, such as WinningWP.com, you can do so for around $10, but this is optional, and you can always stick with the default URL that’s assigned to your blog, such as http://WinningWP.blogspot.com/.

Although the WordPress software is free to download and use, there are some costs involved in running a WordPress website. First, you’ll need a domain name for your website. Prices for a .com domain are usually around $10 per year. Next, you’ll need to choose a web host that will make your website available to internet users.

Once you have a domain name and web hosting account, you can start thinking about buying a commercial WordPress theme and plugins.

2.Getting Started

Anyone can sign-up with Blogger and start a blog. If you’re already registered with Google — with a Gmail or Google Drive account. With Blogger, you also have the option of creating and managing multiple blogs through one account.

Compared with Blogger, getting started with WordPress isn’t quite as straightforward. As mentioned, you’re responsible for hosting your WordPress-powered website, so you’ll need to choose a web host and register a new domain name. Registering a domain name and signing up with a web host should only take a few minutes. However, new domains can sometimes take a few hours to actually go live.

3. Appearance

Blogger by default only provides a limited set of templates to use. You can modify the colors and layout of these templates using the built-in tools, but you cannot create your own layouts or make modifications.

There are thousands of free and premium WordPress themes which allow you to create professional looking websites. There is a WordPress theme for just about every kind of website. No matter what your site is about, you will find plenty of high quality themes which are easy to modify and customize.

4.Security

Using Blogger you have the added advantage of Google’s robust secure platform. You don’t need to worry about managing your server’s resources, securing your blog, or creating backups.

WordPress is quite secure, but since it is a self hosted solution you are responsible for security and backups. There are plenty of WordPress plugins that make it easier for you.

5. Support and Maintenance

There is limited support available for Blogger. They have a very basic documentation and a user’s forum. In terms of support, your choices are very limited.

There’s a large WordPress community and ecosystem to turn to should a problem arise with your website. As well as the official free user support forums, there are many commercial support services that will help you with your WordPress website for a fee. Your web host may even provide you with some assistance.

Blogger has not seen any major update since a very long time. We have seen Google kill their popular services such as Google Reader, Google+ etc Future of Blogger depends on Google, and they have the right to shut it down whenever they want.

WordPress is an Open Source software which means its future is not dependent on one company or individual.  It is developed by a community of developers and users. Being world’s most popular content management system, thousands of businesses around the globe depend on it. The future of WordPress is bright and reassuring.
